About the Course

Course Description

Oral Pathology Case & Concepts: What Are We REALLY Looking For?
Dental professionals routinely identify oral pathologies and anomalies during patient assessment and/or treatment. This course is an overview of oral pathologic conditions presented in a fun and engaging format of case presentation, differential diagnoses, and final diagnosis. Most cases are from Ms. Lukes’ own personal image collection of pathology cases acquired over 40 years as a dental hygienist/educator/researcher, working with dentist partners in identification, diagnosis, treatment and/or referral. Etiology, clinical appearance, and treatment options are included for each lesion/condition, highlighting the assessment phase of the process of care. The course includes both common and uncommon conditions, many of which are signs of systemic disease, emphasized in a discussion about interdisciplinary collaboration with other health professionals.
